Lady Into Fox

§ 01

Synopsis

"Where his wife had been the moment before was a small fox, of a very bright red. He saw at once that his wife was looking at him from the animal's eyes." Richard and Silvia Tebrick have been married for about a year when one day, while walking in the woods, Silvia suddenly and permanently transforms into a fox. The two try to make their relationship work, but slowly they begin to drift apart and the change becomes normal.

The West takes on David Garnett's role as the narrator, inviting the audience in by throwing their own stories into the mix. It is a campfire tale, or dinner-time gossip. The play has been performed at the Hollywood Fringe, Bootleg Theater, the Echo Theater Company, Angel City Brewery, and the Lyric Hyperion Theater.

TimeOut Los Angeles

"An undeniably charming and satisfying hour of theater. All three members of the cast are excellent."

Jonathan Ross, Bitter Lemons

"Another of this play's great beauties is the performers' sheer artistry. Only gradually do we appreciate the intense, demanding physicality of their work."

Mark Hein, Theatre Ghost

"A banner year for dramas at Fringe — I wish for wider audiences to discover the thrills of Lady Into Fox."

Xaque Gruber, The Huffington Post

"Brave, balls out, wildly theatrical and moving."   "Virtuoso theater, romantic, inventive and gutsy."

Bob Verini, Variety & Stage Raw
